According to The Daily Mail, parents are fed up with a Victorian school for forcing male students to stand in congregation apologizing for sexual assault based on their gender.

Brewers College held a meeting and forced the boys to stand up in a symbolic gesture of apology to the girls and women.

Levi, a 12-year-old student attending school, said he was forced to apologize to his classmates, many of whom he had never met.

“You asked us to get up and go to a girl in our class and apologize,” Levi said.

“I don’t think it’s okay to be sexually assaulted. I felt a bit of the pressure to get up and when I didn’t I felt like a bad person. ‘

Another student named Vini said that many girls in the congregation started crying because they had been exposed as victims of sexual assault in front of the entire congregation.

“I’ve had girls behind me crying because they were exposed to pretty much the entire school and we had to apologize for things we weren’t supposed to do.”

One parent, whose son is in his seventh year, said their son was confused as to why he had to apologize for women being raped and sexually assaulted.

“He said he was made to stand up and basically apologize. The male students weren’t properly explained what they were doing or why they were doing it,” said mother Danielle Shephard.

“You really should have tried harder to notify the parents.”

“Wow, just wow … this is actually disgusting Brewers College … not at all impressed that you made my son apologize for something he never did or considered,” Shephard wrote.

One student said on Snapchat, “Today at Brauer they got every man to stand up and apologize to every girl for rape and sexual assault,” the student said.

“Boys go through as much as girls.”

“The gathering included showing a video message from Captain Mason Black of Brisbane Boys College to proactively stop incidents of sexual assault and harassment,” Brewers College director Jane Boyle said in a statement.

As part of this discussion, boys were asked to stand as a symbolic gesture of apology for the behavior of their gender that offended or offended girls and women.

“In retrospect, although well-intentioned, we see that this part of the meeting was inappropriate.”

More from Daily Mail:

From the second semester onwards, the policy will force state schools to teach government training on respectful relationships on free agreements.

Mr Merlino said Victoria and other states shouldn’t be complacent about making sure that consent is well taught in classrooms.

“Respectful relationships have been shown to make a real difference and are a recommendation from the Royal Commission on Domestic Violence,” the Education Minister said in a statement on Sunday.

‘It’s a program that should be rolled out across the country. But we have to listen to the students who say that they want and need to focus more on this topic in the classroom.

“That is why we will prescribe age-appropriate teaching of consent in all state schools.”

Mason Black stood in front of his colleagues last Thursday and told them he felt “sick” about the sexual assault allegations and that the “narrative needs to change”.

“It makes me sick and embarrassed that our school is on the testimonials of young women who are victims of sexual assault,” he said.

Brisbane Boys’ College is another of several schools in Australia that have been cited in testimonials from private and public schoolgirls who claim they have been either sexually assaulted, molested or raped.
