A playful Springer Spaniel named Pogo scared his fur parents on their return from an evening out. Pogo saluted Gemma McAdam and her friend on the door like any other day, but this time he had a mysterious red substance on his chest and paws.

The couple immediately panicked, thinking he had somehow injured themselves when they were gone.

Gemma began searching her house for sharp objects lying around while her friend Pogo checked for obvious injuries. After the two found nothing, they found that Pogo was not injured at all. Pogo had gotten into something staining his fur, but what was it?

“We both panicked. We thought he was injured on something so I ran across the kitchen trying to find something sharp while my girlfriend tried to stop him to see what his injuries were. Neither of us noticed that we were very happy to see us and wag their tails. He’s injured himself before and isn’t very good at hiding pain, so we should definitely have found something was wrong. “- Gemma McAdam

As soon as they knew that Pogo was unharmed, they began their search for the mysterious red substance that stained their furry friend. After searching their home high and low, they found the perpetrator in his box. Pogo had stolen her red hair dye!

They confirmed with the vet that the red hair dye was not toxic to Pogo, so it seemed like he got through this adventure unscathed. That was until he heard the word “bath”.

“We both started laughing. Pogo was so happy that he kept walking in circles and not looking guilty at all … until the bathroom came out! “- Gemma McAdam

Pogo’s parents scrubbed his fur with all their might, but it was clear the bright red hair dye wasn’t giving up without a fight. After reaching out to a few groups of spaniels for advice on what to do next, it looked like it was time for a trip to the beach.

“I’ve reached out to a few groups of spaniels I’ve been in and some have suggested that the seawater might help. That’s why Pogo went to the beach a lot this week. I think he thought he was being rewarded rather than punished! “- Gemma McAdam

It took about 3 months for the red hair dye to finally fade, but Pogo was never impressed! If you want to keep up to date with Pogo and his funny antics, you can follow his Instagram account here!
