It was love at first sight for an injured Chihuahua mix and the veterinarian who saved his life. The puppy named Jim suffered from a broken pelvis, but despite a leg amputation, he was happy and loving. Dr. Sue Lynch admired his bravery and positive attitude, so she knew she couldn’t let him go.

After caring for him during his recovery, she decided to make him a permanent member of the family. Now, not only did he survive this frightening situation, but he also ended up with a loving family. Lynch promises never to let Jim hurt like this again. Having a vet for a mom might not be that intimidating after all!

Life saving surgery

Jim arrived at the Humane Society in the Pike Peaks region of Colorado after reportedly being hit by a car. Rescuers suspect he was left on the side of the road after a life-threatening car accident. His pelvis was broken and veterinarians had to amputate one of his legs to save his life. But he was such a soldier on the way.

“From the moment I saw him with a pelvic fracture and so sad, I just couldn’t believe how cute he was, despite all his injuries and pain,” Lynch said.

First Jim had surgery for his pelvis, but Lynch is the one who discovered extensive nerve damage in his right leg. Amputating his leg was the best way to relieve the puppy’s pain.

Lynch promoted Jim while he was recovering from his amputation. While it was supposed to be a temporary arrangement, Lynch and her family fell head over heels in love with the little dog.

Three legs won’t slow Jim down!

When Jim started to heal, he felt more than ever. He’s a spirited pup, and Lynch’s family quickly knew they couldn’t live without him. After careful consideration, Lynch decided to adopt him and give him the life he deserves.

“Then it was done. My daughter was in love. My husband was in love, ”said Lynch. “I couldn’t bring him back because I knew I wouldn’t know what his future would be.”

Lynch also said that Jim has the best temper. He follows Lynch all day and seems right at home. Also, having only three legs doesn’t seem to slow him down. He loves running around and playing with the family’s larger rescue dog, Elvita. Elvita is also a dog that Lynch treated and fell in love with.

Now Jim lives his life to the fullest as if nothing went wrong. He likes to live in the present because he is loved and cared for there. He is so grateful that Lynch and her family opened their hearts to him.
