Alexa, help me grow my garden. National Garden Week, the first full week of June, is taking root tomorrow, June 7th – and one piece of equipment many of you likely already own could actually serve as the ultimate gardening assistant. Amazon devices, including the Amazon Echo and / or Dot, have capabilities and features in place that will help both amateur and experienced gardeners grow lush gardens and lawns this summer. How? With good old Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant; that’s how it is done!

Much like pet adoptions and sourdough starter kits, gardening flourished during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic; Garden dealers reported a sharp increase in sales amid quarantine. And with studies showing the positive effects of gardening on mental wellbeing and stress relief, the trend doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. With these stats in mind, check out these tips on how to get the most out of your Alexa devices this gardening season, courtesy of the folks at Amazon.

Tip 1: Don’t know where or how to start? Activate expert advice. For first-time gardeners unsure of where and how to start, turn on Amazon’s Carmen Johnston Gardens Skill feature for free home decor and gardening tips from the expert. Simply click the “Activate” button and the function can be accessed on all of your Alexa devices.

Tip 3: set reminders to water your plants The Echo Dot makes it easy to set reminders and create routines with Alexa to make sure you never forget to water those gardens and let them thrive. The Rachio Smart Sprinkler System could also improve your watering routine; It could be connected to your Amazon device so you can ask Alexa to turn on the sprinkler system for you.

Tip 4: shop for gardening supplies. Alexa, order my garden accessories. With Alexa’s existing shopping and delivery capabilities on Echo devices, you can stock up on gardening supplies without ever leaving your home. Keep it up, fellow gardeners – flourish with these tips
